About Us

We are the barefoot Erb family and are located approximately 2400 feet above sea level in Ahualoa, located uphill from the historic town of Honokaa on the Big Island of Hawaii. The property/farm is owned by Stephen and Kim Erb. We named our property "Barefoot" because it's Stephen's nickname (he's been going barefoot since he was a young boy). We even have 2 bare feet on our front gates! The property has been in Stephens family for over three decades and his family has been on the Big Island of Hawaii since the mid 1800's. Barefoot Farms is also the name of our small family-run business. Besides making our All Natural beef jerky, we raise & sell gamefowl chickens, chicks, goats, sheep, racing pigeons and grow our own macadamia nuts. In addition to being a father, Stephen maintains the farm, is a fulltime Firefighter/EMT for the County of Hawaii and proud member of the IAFF. His wife and partner, Kim, a mother of four, makes the beef jerky, runs the business end of Barefoot Farms & also works part-time for HCEOC (Hawaii County Economic Opprtunity Counsil) managing 2 of their Incubator Kitchens on the beautiful Hamakua Coast.
